Hampshire and Isle of Wight (HIOW)

The Hampshire and Isle of Wight Local Government Association (HIOWLA) is comprised of all the county, unitary and district local authorities within Hampshire and the Isle of Wight, together with the National Park Authority for the New Forest. There are 16 authorities in all serving a population of 1.8 million.
What did we set out to achieve?
- To promote innovation and best practice throughout Hampshire and the Isle of Wight;
- Identify and promote opportunities for shared service provision at a strategic level between authorities;
- Coordinate and manage HIOWLA-wide improvement initiatives;
- Provide the HIOWLA input to IESE and its constituent groups;
- Coordinate bids for funding and other support from HIOWLA authorities to IESE;
- Proactively support any authority where overall performance and improvement is felt to require assistance.
