The South East Fire Improvement Partnership (SEFIP) exists to support the nine fire and rescue authorities in the south east to improve and meet their efficiency targets.
What did we set out to achieve?
- Support the nine fire and rescue authorities in the south east
- Improve the service these authorities offer to the public and make improvements in the back office
- Increase cost-effectiveness in procurement by buying collaboratively to common specifications
- Pool resources and deliver training to colleagues from other services on a local and national scale
- Raise the profile of the fire and rescue service both within the region and nationally to government and key bodies such as the LGA
- Support development of elected members and officers through training and support for attendance at seminars
- Continue to successfully run the peer review brokering service for all fire and rescue services in the region
What have we achieved so far?
- Some authorities have become centres of excellence and offer training to colleagues from other services locally and nationally
- Saved over £500k last year through working together
- Launched ‘operational diversity’ approach – designed to tailor the service we provide to meet the needs of individuals, regardless of age, disability or other factors
How can your council get involved?
Our next step is the implementation of The Fire Customer Insight Project; a significant piece of work to help us understand the people who benefit from our services.

Comms and Shared LearningKnowledge loss is a key issue for fire & rescue authorities. This project will seek to provide mechanisms whereby key learning and knowledge can be shared so that it is not lost as individuals leave the service. |
