Leaders in Partnership Programme
This exclusive leadership development programme is designed for talented and ambitious managers from all authorities in Sussex and Hampshire and Isle of Wight. This cross-regional programme supports the transformation of public services and builds local leadership capacity to realise the Councils’ visions for improvement.
What did we set out to achieve?
- The partnership agenda in both sub-regions will have developed and be greater aligned, with demonstrable evidence provided
- Participants will be able to demonstrate tangible increase in capacity, skills and performance
- Participants will report increased confidence to drive through the agenda for change
- These measures of success will be defined by the participants, key stakeholders and organisers. Evidence will be gathered through tangible outcomes from the collaborative projects, and pre- and post-programme evaluation
What have we achieved so far?
- 40 of the 120 participants on Leaders in Partnership have started their journey through the programme
- A range of collaborative projects, selected by chief executives, and with CMT-level sponsorship, have been initiated by cross-authority groups of participants
- The first cohort of participants have completed an innovative 180° feedback exercise, using a solution-focussed methodology
- A dedicated website – www.shiow.co.uk – has been created, which is intended to support the growth of a community of practice, as well as acting as a resource bank for the programme
How can your council benefit?
The programme will allow participants space to explore innovative approaches and local and national best practice, and we intend one of the wider benefits to be the development of effective partnership working – between councils both within and across regions – to improve efficiency, information exchange and customer outcomes.
The collaborative projects will be both a personal development process for participants, and provide tangible benefits on substantial issues for participating authorities.
